What I am agreeing to – Self-Employment

Here at Kanopi Contract Services we want to be sure you understand what we do and how everything works so that you can be sure that working on this contract works for you. We have highlighted the main points below and just click on any/all of them for more information.

You work on the assignment agreed with the agency for their client, but you do so as our subcontractor.
They agree a charge rate with the agency that includes your cost, the agency’s costs (as they specialise in sorting out the job and getting the right workforce, the right experience, qualifications etc), it also includes our costs. If you worked for the client or the agency then they would have to engage you, handle all the compliance and process your payments. Because you work for us these costs just pass down in the rates agreed, but they are kept to a minimum as we can do this work most efficiently.
The terms that we agree make it clear, you are not our employee nor are you our worker. So there is no right to National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage, no right to holiday pay or a pension. It does though, allow you to determine how much you work for and when you work.
When paying you as a self-employed subcontractor. If you’ve worked with agencies before you may know something of these rules that are relevant to how you go about your work. We work with our agency clients to make sure that we have this status right and this may mean that from time to time we will ask you for information or to complete a questionnaire.
You always need to consider that the rate agreed is the rate payable to us and our cost will always have to be taken from the money received.

It is therefore very important that the rate you agree with the agency is enough to cover our cost in addition to what you want to be paid.

If you have any questions on any of our services or need to discuss your requirements, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
